1. Introduction

Welcome to PDF Complete ("we," "our," or "the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how PDF Complete handles information when you use our iOS application.

Our Privacy Commitment: PDF Complete is designed with privacy as a fundamental principle. The App functions entirely offline, and all document processing occurs locally on your device. We do not operate servers that collect, process, or store your data.

2. Information We Don't Collect

PDF Complete does NOT collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Personal Information: No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or contact information
• Documents: Your PDF files and scanned documents remain exclusively on your device
• Usage Data: No analytics, tracking, or behavioral data collection
• Device Information: No device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
• Advertising Data: No IDFA or advertising identifiers
• Account Information: No user accounts, logins, or authentication data (the App doesn't use accounts)
• Crash Reports: No automatic crash reporting (Apple may collect anonymized crash logs if you opt-in to share with developers)

3. How the App Works

3.1 Local Processing Only

All features operate entirely on your device:

• PDF merging, splitting, and compression
• Document scanning via device camera
• OCR (text extraction) using on-device Vision framework
• Digital signature creation and application
• Watermark addition
• Password protection and encryption
• PDF annotation and form filling
• Bookmark management

3.2 No Internet Connection Required

PDF Complete does not require or use internet connectivity. The App functions completely offline. There are no network requests to our servers or third-party services.

3.3 File Storage

Your documents are stored in the following locations, all under your control:

• Imported Files: Accessed via security-scoped URLs; original files remain in their location (Files app, iCloud Drive, etc.)
• Temporary Files: Stored in the app's temporary directory during processing and automatically cleaned up
• Library Files: If you save documents to the in-app library, they are stored in the app's local document directory on your device
• Signatures: Saved signatures are stored locally on your device in the app's document directory

4. Permissions and What They're Used For

4.1 Camera Access

Purpose: To scan paper documents and convert them to PDF using VisionKit framework

When Requested: Only when you tap "Scan Document"

Optional: You can use all other features without granting camera access

Data Handling: Scanned images are processed on-device and converted to PDF. No images are uploaded or transmitted.

4.2 File Access

Purpose: To allow you to select PDF files from Files app, iCloud Drive, or other file providers

When Requested: When you import PDFs or save processed documents

Data Handling: Files are accessed using security-scoped URLs. The App reads and processes files locally without uploading them anywhere.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

5.1 No Third-Party Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your information with third parties because we don't collect any information in the first place.

5.2 User-Initiated Sharing

When you use the "Share" feature, you control where your documents go:

• Files saved to Files app remain on your device or in your iCloud account (controlled by your Apple ID settings)
• Documents shared via Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or other apps are sent directly from your device
• We have no visibility into or control over where you share your documents

5.3 No Cloud Services

PDF Complete does not use cloud storage, databases, or backend servers. There is no infrastructure where your data could be stored or accessed.

6. Third-Party Services and Frameworks

PDF Complete uses only Apple's native frameworks:

• PDFKit: For PDF rendering and manipulation (local processing only)
• VisionKit: For document scanning (on-device only)
• Vision: For OCR text recognition (on-device only)
• QuickLook: For PDF preview (local files only)
• UIKit & Foundation: For app functionality

No third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising networks are integrated into the App.

7. Data Security

7.1 On-Device Security

Your documents are protected by:

• iOS Sandbox: The App operates within iOS's security sandbox, isolating it from other apps
• File System Encryption: iOS automatically encrypts data on your device when locked
• Security-Scoped URLs: Proper handling of file access permissions
• Automatic Cleanup: Temporary files are regularly removed to minimize data footprint

7.2 Password Protection Feature

When you use the password protection feature:

• Passwords are used to encrypt PDF files using standard PDF encryption
• Passwords are not stored by the App
• Encrypted PDFs follow industry-standard PDF security specifications
• You are responsible for remembering your passwords; we cannot recover them

8. Children's Privacy

PDF Complete does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and is safe for users of all ages. Since no data is collected or transmitted, there are no privacy concerns for children using the App.

9. Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

• Data Access: All your documents are stored on your device and accessible through iOS Files app
• Data Deletion: Delete any document from the app's library or your device at any time
• App Deletion: Uninstalling the App removes all app data, including saved signatures and library documents
• Permission Control: Manage camera and file access permissions in iOS Settings → PDF Complete

10. International Users

PDF Complete operates entirely on your device, regardless of your location. No data crosses international borders through our systems because we don't transmit any data. The App complies with privacy regulations including:

• GDPR (European Union): No personal data processing
• CCPA (California): No personal information collection or sale
• Other Privacy Laws: Full compliance due to zero data collection model

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes that affect how we handle information (though our current model is no data collection), we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Notify users through an in-app message or update notes
• Provide the updated policy at the same URL

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. App Store and Apple

PDF Complete is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect information related to app downloads and updates as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. This collection is separate from the App itself and is governed by Apple's policies, not ours.

Apple may collect anonymized crash reports and diagnostics if you have opted in to "Share iPhone Analytics" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

13. Legal Compliance

Since we do not collect or have access to your data, we cannot provide your data to law enforcement or government agencies. If we were to receive a legal request for data, we would have no data to provide. Your documents remain exclusively under your control.

14. California Privacy Rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have specific rights. However, since PDF Complete does not collect, sell, or share personal information, CCPA obligations do not apply. We do not:

• Collect personal information
• Sell personal information
• Share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising

15. European Union Users (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we confirm:

• Data Controller: Not applicable - no personal data is processed
• Legal Basis: Not applicable - no data collection occurs
• Data Subject Rights: All data remains under your exclusive control on your device
• Data Transfers: No international data transfers occur
• Data Retention: Data is retained on your device until you delete it
